A little update

Hello there!

I hope you are all well!

I realized that it has been a while since I posted anything mini related, so I wanted to give you all a little update on what I have been up to lately. Sadly I haven't had as much time as I would like to work on all of my projects, but I did have to opportunity to take a wonderful class with Lisa Engler in Chicago this past November. It was such a great time and I am so happy with the result! We made this beautiful shelf full of sewing supplies. I hope that Lisa will be teaching another class soon!

I also finished this pretty sewing table from a kit also by Lisa Engler. I have a couple more kits from this sewing collection, so I am hoping to do a room box in the future for all of them. I have so many projects, LOL!

I have also worked a little bit on the dollhouse I am doing for my niece. I have the outside completed, so now I am working on furniture and accessories for the inside. It may take me a while, but eventually I will get it all done for her, LOL!

I hope that all of you had a wonderful Christmas! Ours was really nice!

Now it is time to ring in the new year and what better way for me to do that, then to have a sale! The Teddies Worldwide online show preview began last night and let me just say, there is an amazing display of talent over there!! If you haven't already checked it out, go take a look. While you are there you can vote for your favorite bear in each category.

Happy Sunday everyone!

I just wanted to share our new family member with you all today :o)

This is bear, our rottweiler puppy, he is six weeks old. He is a handful, but so cute! I haven't gotten much done since we got him on Friday, I have to keep a close eye on him. He gets into everything and he likes to chew, chew, chew! I am impressed at how well he is doing with housebreaking though! He seems to be a quick learner.

We have been talking about getting another rottweiler for a while now. We had to have our other rott put to sleep three years ago due to cancer and we really miss him a lot!

I'm sure this little guy is going to be a wonderful addition to our family. :o)

In my free time (LOL!) I am busy working on bears. I have three shows coming up in November!

~ First is the Who is Who in Bearmaking online show

on November 5 & 6. I will post my sneak peek photo here on my blog soon.

~ I will also be in Ann Arbor, Michigan on November 6 for the Teddy bear gallery show. You can find a list of participating artists and some preview photos on the Bright Star Promotions webpage.

~Then I will be participating in the Teddies Worldwide online bear show November 18 - 20. Preview starts November 4th.

Whew! I've got my work cut out for me! I better get back to sewing!!

I obviously haven't had much time for working on minis, but hopefully after the bear shows are done I can get back to it! I am looking forward to the Wee "C " Miniature show and sale on November 11! I am also taking a class with Lisa Engler! We will be making a beautiful sewing cabinet in 1" scale! I am so excited!!

Ok, I really better get back to work now! I hope you all enjoy what is left of the weekend!

A Few Minis From the Bishop Show

A group of us went to the Chicago Miniatures Show yesterday and had a really good time! I brought home just a few little things, but I am really happy with what I found :o) Of course there are a few things that I wish I would have gone back for, but that seems to be the way it always goes, LOL!

I was really happy to finally find the door latches that I have been wanting for the Harry Potter shops! I have been looking everywhere for these! I bought them from Mini-tiques, but I have to order a couple more from her because she had sold out of the other two styles I wanted.

I found this really pretty white vase and mossy clay pot at Carol's Bloomers.

The large white flower pot and the little cutting boards came from Dragonfly International. The little cutting boards are also something that I have been wanting for a while, and I couldn't pass up the flower pot. I thought it would look great with a big fern in it.

These cute little candy dishes were a great find! I love them! These are from Barbara Anderson Miniatures. She had them in an assortment of beautiful colors.

I apologize for the terrible pictures! I am still trying to figure out my new camera and I can't seem to get the lighting right.

I better get back to work on some bears now! There are only about two weeks left until the Valparaiso Doll and Bear Show!

Hi everyone! Sorry about the length of time between posts!! There is just so much going on!
I have some bears and other stuff that I would like to share today, and also a question for anyone who might be able to help. :o)

Now, I am wondering if anyone else out there is still having problems with blogger?? I still can't leave comments on most of the blogs I follow, I can't join new blogs and I can't even view my own list of followers! It is just my computer though, it all works fine when I use Gregg's laptop. Is there something I am missing here, LOL! I have been sad about not being able post comments for people and not being able to enter all the lovely giveaways out there! Help!

Also, I think I have decided to combine my website and blog together, just to make things easier for myself. I want to add the page links to the top of my blog like I have seen some of you do, but I am not sure where to start. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Pretty Please! :o) I would really appreciate any help you can give me!!

If it's not one thing, it's another

Well, I am still here. I have been having some major computer problems lately! Poor Bertha (yes, I named my computer, LOL) picked up a really bad virus and now I can't open any of my programs or get on the internet. I am using Gregg's laptop now until I can get a new computer of my own. It sucks because I had all of my favorites saved on my computer so now I have to try and remember the web addresses and passwords! I have a horrible memory so it is not easy!
I wanted to share some of my recent bears with you, but I don't have the pictures on here of any of them except the little bunny that I listed today. His name is "Logan" and to be honest I think I am going to have a hard time parting with this little guy! I think he is adorable :o) You can read more about him on Bear Pile if you would like to.

Logan has been adopted. Thank you!

Donna (Hager Bears) and I have also been doing some collaboration bear sets. They have been a lot of fun to work on and I am happy to say that they have been really popular. :o) If you would like to see them, they can be found on the gallery page of her website since I am not able to post the pictures here.

I have also been working on the Harry Potter shops when I can grab a spare minute in between everything else. It has been a lot of fun experimenting with new techniques and ideas. Hopefully I will be able to post some updates here soon.

Amy, if you are reading this, I haven't forgotten about or swap, I promise!! It is sitting on my desk begging to be finished as soon as I get a chance. Please don't give up on me!

On that note, I better go get busy! Lots of laundry to do and bears to sew. I hope you all have a wonderful holiday weekend!

I hope that you all had a wonderful holiday weekend! Mother Nature decided to give us a beautiful Easter Sunday which was nice, but now it is back to rain and gloom.

I want to share some new mini treasures that I purchased recently!

These furniture pieces are by Kris Compas of "1 inch minis".

She does absolutely amazing work and I am so happy to have these pieces in my collection!! If you would like to see what she has to offer, please visit her cdhm page or her blog. I guarantee you won't be disappointed!

I'm So Excited!!

Happy Friday!

One more week before we leave to go to Chicago International! Donna and I are going to the preview and then back for more on Saturday :o)

I can't wait!! This will be my first time visiting this show. Donna, you might want to keep me on a leash so I don't get too excited and run off, LOL!

Are any of you going?? I hope to meet lots of people there!

Over the past couple days I have been doing some spring cleaning and figured I would list some odds and ends on e-bay along with a few bears in hopes of having some extra spending money for the show ;o) I also just need to get some of this stuff out of my house, LOL! What I've been working on lately

I hope all of you are having a wonderful weekend!

I've had a few people ask to see pictures of my projects that I have been busy with lately, so I thought I would share them here on my blog today :o)

I always seem to have a lot of things going on at once, but I like it that way! There is always something to do.

This first picture is a hutch that we made in mini club for NAME day last year. I painted it and added all the little details. One of these days I want to make a kitchen room box with a rooster theme, so that is where it will go...eventually, lol! The two rooster plates were a gift from my friend Donna and the little box on the bottom right shelf was made by Kristina, everything else was done by me. The palm plant was a workshop taught by Maryse at mini club, that was a lot of fun to make!

Next is my Easter table. This was also for mini club. Donna and I each made a table to use as an example for the workshop she was teaching yesterday. It was a lot of fun and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. She taught us how to make the panoramic eggs and the sugar eggs along with a few other goodies, but as you can see I have a tendency to over-do things!

Everything on the table was made by me, except the pink egg, that was also a gift from Donna :o) The table itself was an E-bay purchase.

Next...

My cookie prep table that I made for my bakery which is still in progress. Actually I don't like my current bakery so I am planning to start from scratch and re-do everything. Anyway, the table has been a fun project. I'm not quite finished with it yet, I want to add a couple more little things to the bottom, but I haven't decided what yet.

Here are a few updated pics of the dollhouse I have been building for my niece. I am almost finished with the siding now. yes, I know I have said that before, LOL! I can't wait to start decorating the inside!

Pay no attention to the mess behind the dollhouse, lol, I tried to crop the pictures so no one had to see it!

Last, but not least, here are a few pics of my Harry Potter shops I am working on now. They are far from being done, but I've made a lot of progress. The first one is the Apothecary and the second is Honeydukes. I will also be doing the pet shop, but I haven't had a chance to start on that one yet.

I am having a lot of fun with these and I can't wait to start filling them up!! I have so many ideas! I tried to get some pics of the inside of the shops, but it is storming here today, so the lighting isn't very good. I will try to post more updates soon!

I hope you all enjoyed the pictures! At least now you know why I have been such a bad blogger lately, lol! I have also been working on bears! :o)

I just have about half the siding to put on and some decorating on the inside, then I can give it to her and make room for my next project! Or should I say multiple projects, LOL! I have waaaaaay too many things going at once, but that keeps life interesting, right?!

On that note I probably better get back to work! I have a little elephant commission to finish :o)

New mini treasures and my first bear of the year!

Today I would like to share a couple of things with all of you! First are my new little treasures that I purchased. :o) These little cats are made by the very talented Linda Fisher. I won the little grey kitten on E-bay and I just fell in love with it, so I contacted Linda and had the orange cat, "Crookshanks" commissioned. He is so perfect, I love him! He has glow in the dark eyes and a poseable tail. He is destined for my Harry Potter pet shop that I am building :o)

I hope you all had a wonderful week! I have been thinking a lot about new year's resolutions and goals for 2011, I'm sure a lot of you have also! Part of my resolution/goal is to make more minis available in my Etsy shop this year. I have done just that this morning! I added three plants that I have been working on over the past couple of weeks. I hope you like them!! I am going to try and find a balance between making bears and making minis (another part of my resolution).

A New Year's Mini Swap!

I was thinking the other day, wouldn't it be fun to have a little something to look forward to after the holidays are over?! I always feel kind of sad when the gifts are all unwrapped and the anticipation is over! I decided that a miniature swap would be just the thing to keep the fun going!

A little bit of mini fun

I have been working on some miniatures in my free time. I love making flowers! I've also been wanting to give basket making a try for some time, so a few days ago I decided to just jump right in. Wow, it has been a while since I last posted anything! I'm still here though! I've been working on minis and bears and I have a few things to share with you today. :o) I'm going to apologize first for the quality of the pictures, the lighting is horrible today and one of the bulbs went out in my little light tent that I use.

This first picture is a finished kit that my friend Donna got me for my birthday last month. I had so much fun putting this together! I think I am addicted to these now!! It is from Lisa's Little Things and I can't wait to get more :o) Thank you again Donna!!!!!! I love it!!!!!

Good Show!

Yesterday was my very first teddy bear show! It was a lot of fun and I did pretty well I think :o) Here is a pic of my table. Not the best picture, I took it real quick before the show started.

The Ugly Side Of Man

This blog entry is neither bear or miniature related, but I want to post this here anyway. This is something I feel very strongly about and I want to make as many people aware as possible.

I know that many of you are animal lovers like me. I have always loved animals of all kinds! I have always had pets and I can't imagine living without some sort of furry little friend following me around. It breaks my heart to hear about the animal abuse that takes place in this world!
I will admit I have always lived a very sheltered life, never really knowing what is going on in the world. I have always been aware of animal abuse though and extremely concerned about what is being done to stop it, but nothing could have prepared me for what I have learned over the past couple days!
After watching a particularly disturbing TV show yesterday I decided to do some online research to learn more. This episode of the show was trying to expose the inhumane treatment of horses, specifically the slaughter of them. Being the sheltered individual that I am, I had no idea that such a thing was going on. I had no idea that people even eat horses! I wanted to know what I could do to help stop this disgusting thing from happening, so I went to several websites and eventually found some info on the Humane Society webpage.
It is even worse than I could have ever imagined!  I will tell you that they have a video posted on that page that documents the savage treatment of these animals, but I do not recommend that you watch it!! I am not embarrassed to tell you that after watching only the first few seconds I had to shut it off and spent the next half hour being sick and crying uncontrollably!   To think that people can do these things to other living creatures makes me feel sick, angry and sad! There is no reason why these animals should have to suffer such a terrible, barbaric death while the men cheer and laugh as if they are at a some sort of sporting event!   They don't discriminate either, they take the young, healthy horses, children's ponies, foals, racing horses, even stolen horses!   It is the most awful, disgusting and disturbing thing I have ever seen!!

I apologize for my rant, and I thank all of you who have read this! I hope it has made at least one of you stop and think. If you would like to help stop this from happening, there is a link at humanesociety.org where you can fill out a form to be sent to your congressman. I filled it out and e-mailed it, but I am definitely not stopping there! I am going to look into it some more and see how I can raise more awareness.   I wish I lived somewhere that I could just take them all in and help them!

Another new Ellie

I have another new ellie to share with you all today :o) This little girl is named Mimi and she is available on Bear Pile. I think I have been on elephant overdrive lately, LOL! This is the last one for a little while though. I am working on some bears to stash back for a couple of shows.

I think I am just about done with my online to do list this morning, so I am going to try and finish the minis that I have been working on for my giveaway. I hope to be able to post the info on that within the next couple of days. I also have some pictures of some goodies I have received recently (my camera actually cooperated today, can you believe it!) so I will be showing those also.

For now I will share one last parting shot with you today.

This is our kitten TJ. My daughter named him so I'm not quite sure what TJ stands for, if anything, LOL!

For some reason all of the cats love to sleep in the letter tray here on my computer desk. This little guy has claimed "the spot" for the past couple weeks. When I sit down he climbs up there and lays down, but when I move he follows me and watches everything I do. If I come back and sit down at my desk he will climb right back up there and go back to sleep. Cats are so funny!

Halloween Time

I couldn't resist using this wonderful mohair for a little Halloween themed elephant! I even made him some bat wings :o) He looks like he is all dressed up for Trick-or-Treat. His name is Igor and he is listed on Bear Pile right now if you would like to go over there and visit him.

In my last post I showed you some of my goodies from my shopping trip at the antique mall. I always have such a great time when I go there, so it made me kind of sad to hear in your comments that not all of you
have these in your area! So today I thought I would share a few of my favorite go-to places on Etsy for vintage lace, ribbon, trims, etc.
These are some of the shops that I love! Their selection is phenomenal and they have great prices too!

Early Attic - vintage trims, laces, cottons, etc.

Sugar Pink Boutique - trims, fringes, vintage lace, beads, etc.

Christopher Pines - trims, ribbons, ric rac, embellishments, etc.

A Fruitful Hunt :o)

Yesterday was lots of fun! My sister and I did some "hunting" at the local antique malls and I came home with lots of goodies :o) Here are some pictures I took when I go home last night. As you can see, my cat Murphy had to be the first to inspect everything, LOL. I'm surprised all of the other cats weren't up there too!

I couldn't believe all of the beautiful lace they had! And cheap too. I only paid a dollar per bag!! and that huge bag of pearl cotton there, $3!

I showed everything to Gregg and all he said was "Wow, you only bought one basket, I'm shocked!"

LOL!

Anyone who has been to my house or has been shopping with me knows that I LOVE baskets!! I have them everywhere. I'm running out of room so I even started hanging them from the beam on the cieling in the family room :o) I think I may need an intervention!!

Well, I better get back to sewing! I can't wait to use some of this on my bears!

Progress On The Dollhouse

As promised, here are some pictures of the dollhouse I am building for my niece. (Please ignore the mess surrounding it, LOL!) I started putting the siding on today. You can see it on the front of the house by the porch. I am a slow worker so this may take me awhile to get done. It took me three days to do the shingles!! If it wasn't for all the pesky housework...and laundry...and cooking....and helping with homework....and .... you get the picture! I wish I could stay up at night and work on stuff while everyone else is fast asleep, but I am not a night person!! I just can't keep my eyes open past about 10 p.m. The sad part is, I'm not much of a morning person either!! LOL!!

I have some touch ups to do on the outside of the house when I am done with the siding. Then I can do the window boxes. After that I think I can move on to the inside and get a few things finished in there before I start decorating (my favorite part!). I'm sure I will think of a hundred more things that need to be done before I get that far though.

On a completely different subject, I am soooo excited about the upcoming Harry Potter movie!!! I get chills every time I watch the trailer! I am a huger HP fan just like a lot of you are I'm sure. If there is anyone who hasn't heard, part 1 of the movie comes to theatres on November 19. The best part of it is that day is also my birthday!! What a great b-day gift for me :o) This is the big one though, I will be 30 this year! EEEKK!!! I think I might cry!!

Pictures at last!

Phew! It has taken me all day, but I finally got some pictures taken and all my little creations listed in my Etsy shop. :o)

Here is what I have to show you all today:

This first picture is "Ivy" my latest elephant. She is made from a beautiful blue/grey mohair that I just love.

Next is "Bastian". He is one of the little bunnies that have been paitiently waiting on my desk for quite some time. (see earlier post about bunny parts) His little pink sister is still waiting to be finished, but she has been giving me a hard time so I have set her aside for the time being.

As I mentioned yesterday, I have also been working on some minis. Here are two flowers that I have finished. A rusty pail of black roses and pink poppies and a little pot with a fly trap plant of some sort :o) I can just picture these in a witch's room or in a conservatory. I had a lot of fun with these and I can't wait to make more!

Last, but not least I have finished some little dollhouse size aprons. I had fun making some of these look rather dirty, like they have been worn many times.

I'm back!

Wow, am I a bad blogger or what?! I really admire those of you who have the time to blog everyday!!

I seem to be getting back in the groove of creating, yay! I have a elephant and a bunny finished and ready to list, if only I could get my camera to work, sigh! I have also been busy with some mini making :o) I have some mini flowers and a few other goodies to list in my etsy shop, hopefully tomorrow. I am going to fiddle around with my camera tonight and see if I can get it working. (wish me luck, LOL!)

I have been working away on my niece's dollhouse also. All I have left is the roof and the baseboards and moulding on the inside. I am waiting for my supplies I ordered so I can get that done. Then I can decorate!! I promise to post some pictures as soon as I can :o)

I can't wait to show you all the wonderful hats that I comissioned from Kat!! They are absolutely beautiful, and very addicting!!! Most of them went in my witch shadowbox that I am making (I have many projects on the go!!) The others I am saving for another special project :o)

Pun intended, LOL! My bear-making muse seems to have taken a vacation. :o( I can't seem to muster up the inspiration to finish the two little bunnies I have waiting patiently on my desk. I will get to them again soon I hope, as soon as other things slow down. I have some things going on that I hope to be able to tell you all about soon, but it is a little bit uncertain and hush hush for now, not to mention super stressfull for me.

But anyway,...

While I wait for my muse to return I have been working on the dollhouse for my niece. It is the Lily kit. Over the past couple of months I have made some nice progress with it, but it is far from finished. I have been trying to make most things myself in order to save some money. Today I am going to start on the kitchen floor tiles. I'm not sure yet how I want to do this, but that is the fun part right?!
Here are a couple of pictures of my progress so far~

I have also been working on some more flowers. I am making some window boxes for the above house and also some flower arrangements, just because they are my favorite to make :o) Here is my little tray that I use to sit in front of the TV and work. I had stuff spread all over the house a couple of days ago, in the living room, family room, dining room... you get the idea :o) My husband came home from work and stood in kitchen with his jaw hanging open so I decided it was time to clean up, LOL! I wish I had gotten a picture of that!

Well, I am itching to get to work on the floor so I will post again soon. Maybe I will have some little bunnies to show by then! :o)

A Mouse and some Minis

Sorry it has been awhile since I last posted here on my blog! I have been a busy bee this week. I finally finished that little mouse I told you all about, her name is Devon. I will try and get her listed on Bear Pile here shortly.

I have also had my nose down in some mini projects :oP Once I get going it is hard to stop, LOL! I have included a picture here of what I got finished so far.
I refinished the cabinet and dresser to fit with my favorite shabby style.

I made the elephant and giraffe from vintage velvet. The elephant is a little over 1" tall and the giraffe is about 2.5". These will look cute in the little nursery room of the house I making for my niece.

I really love to make mini flowers!! This was my first attempt at making roses and I really love how they turned out. I think they go with my shabby furniture really well. I can't wait to make more in different colors. :o)

Also, I found some great fur in my stash to start on a couple of bunnies as requested :o) A light pink and a grey and white. I will get those patterns cut out tonight hopefully. Tomorrow I will be going to my mom's for the holiday. I hope everyone has a great 4th of July! Be safe!

New Vintage Style Bear

Hi everybody! I hope you are all enjoying your weekend so far! I've caught a cold somehow and it is making me miserable, urgh! I have finished my vintage style bear today though and I wanted to share him with you. His name is Leon and he measures about 10" overall. He is on Bear Pile now if you would like to visit him there.
I think I might go take some more medicine now before I get started on my next project. I haven't decided what it will be yet, maybe a big green bear or a tiny mouse, hmmm.......

A Fairy Elephant

As I mentioned in my previous post, I have been working on a little girly elephant for the past couple days. I finally have her finished and ready to make her debut. :o)
Her name is Ariel and she is my very first fairy elephant and I am so pleased with the way she turned out!! I love her long eyelashes and pretty wings! I haven't made wings in such a long time, but they turned out nice I think.
I used to make them and sell them in my etsy shop for folks to use on fairy sculpts, BJD, bears, etc. I have been meaning to get some more made up, but there don't seem to be enough hours in the day! You all know how that is I'm sure!

Playing Catch-up

This was definitely an interesting weekend. We had a big storm on Friday that left us without power until late last night. Gregg and I both agreed that we never would have made it in a little house on the prairie, LOL! I am spending today getting caught up on computer stuff. I was having internet withdrawels the past couple of days!

I did manage to finish up some minis I have been working on though. This little guy is an elephant pull toy. He measures about 2" long. I had a lot of fun with him so I have another elephant and a giraffe in the works now. I am thinking of placing a couple of them in my Etsy shop, but I am not sure if anyone would be interested in them. Please let me know what you all think. :o)

I have also posted a show preview on my website. I will be at the Chicagoland show in October, is there anyone else out there that is planning to go either as an exhibitor or visitor? I am kind of nervous about it since it will be my first show, but I am also excited to meet lots of friends and finally put faces to names! I hope I can get enough bears made by then, I'm so slow, LOL!

Wow, I feel like I haven't been on here in forever! I almost forgot that today is the big day, LOL! Last week my husband was on vacation from work so we did lots of fun stuff. A New Bear and a New Family Member

I hope everyone is having a wonderful holiday weekend so far! The weather has been beautiful here in Indiana :o) I wanted to get some more photos posted of my flowers that are blooming, but my camera wouldn't cooperate long enough. Maybe tomorrow?

I do have a new bear to show tonight though and a new member of the family to introduce!

I finished this little bear thismorning. His name is Ricky and he is made of a super soft belgian plush. I love the feel of this fur! If you would like to read more about him I will be listing him on Bear Pile tonight.

ok, so I stand by my previous post, I am giving this crazy cat lady thing my best effort, LOL!

Gregg and I went over to Barnes and Noble on Thursday to pick up a book I have been wanting. It's about a 20 - 30 minute drive over there and it is located in the mall, so of course I couldn't just go to the one store! I had to take a look in all my favorites, including the pet store. :o) I feel so bad for all those little guys stuck behind the glass, it breaks my heart! While I was there I found the little french bulldog puppy that I have always wanted and I about fainted when the lady told me the price was $1400! Needless to say I did not walk out with a puppy or the little kitten I liked either!

But fate stepped in and on our way home I asked Gregg to take the back way home and there on the side of the road was a sign "FREE KITTENS" I couldn't resist.

I didn't even have to ask, he pulled in the drive and told me to pick one. I love that man!!

Royce is made of an off-white mohair with a long brown synthetic mane. He has wired arms and tail. He has blue glass eyes and a waxed nose. He is poly filled with a pouch of bbs in his body for weight. As with all of my bears and buddies he is completly hand sewn.

Now for today's project. My big mess! Be warned, the picture you are about to see is very scary!!

I think my work table is under there somewhere?! This calls for a serious day of cleaning, yikes! Can you see my dog Abby there in the chair? Maybe I can get her to help..... ya right!

Well, I better get busy. Maybe I will find the little bear I was working on somewhere in this mess.

Um, if you don't hear from me for a couple of days, could someone please come and dig me out?!!

Easily Distracted

Yes, I am definately easily distracted! Every morning I get up and get my daughter ready and on the bus to go to school and I think about all the big plans I have for the day. Starting a new bear, working on some minis, etc. etc. but my first stop is to check my e-mail... big mistake! I could easily spend hours on the internet (and usually do, LOL!) I have my usual list of sites to check; TT, Bear Pile, The Guild and then comes Etsy and my ever growing list of blogs that I follow.

I am addicted to Etsy first of all. There are so many wonderful artists and crafters on there that I just can't help but look and look and look! If there is anyone out there who hasn't discovered the magical place that is Etsy, you should take a trip over there, you won't regret it!!

And then the blogs, oh the wonderful blogs, I love reading what other people are up to! Probably because other peoples lives are so much more interesting than mine, LOL! It fascinates me and I spend so much time reading new and old posts, discovering new blogs and learning new things about people all over the world that pretty soon half the day is gone and I wave bye-bye to all of my well thought out plans. ;o) Does anyone else have this "problem"??!

So anyway, while I'm on the subject of blogs, I have seen so many wonderfully generous giveaways out there that I couldn't help but think that maybe I should join in. I haven't been blogging very long, but still, why not?! I already have my little give away prize in mind I just have to get some pictures taken of him. :o) I will let you know the specifics in my next post. How exciting!!!

"Crazy Cat Lady In Training"

Yep, thats me! I saw that title printed on a t-shirt the other day and I laughed out loud because I could so see myself wearing that! I have two cats that run the house and I thought I would share some pictures of them with you today along with my new bear I finished yesterday.

This first picture is Frank. He thinks everyone was put on this earth to serve only him, LOL! Here he is sleeping in my letter tray on my desk. Of course as soon as I got out of the chair he jumped in it and wouldn't get out. Hmph!

Next is Murphy. We adopted him from the animal shelter about two months ago and he hasn't wasted any time making himself right at home as you can see. I bought them that little cat house there (which Frank is too good for, of course) and Murphy likes to knock all of the papers off of my table onto the top of it and then lay on them. His personality is completly different than Frank's, he is so full of energy, not that you can tell for this picture, LOL!

These two guys keep me company during the day when the rest of the family is at work and school. I find myself having complete conversations with them. :o) One sided conversations when Frank is involved ,but Murphy will sometimes tilt his head and meow at me. My husband says I need a friend, but that is another story for another day, LOL!! I would be happy with a couple more cats! ;o)

Anyhoo, about that new bear I mentioned....

His name is Robin and he is available on Bear Pile today. He is 11" seated and made from a long blue synthetic fur with a cream alpaca face. He has a clay nose and glass eyes. I hope you enjoy taking a look at him.

And of course here is Murphy again. He is always right in the thick of things. He takes his quality control job very seriously! I think he wanted to help with the photos, but I thought this bear was furry enough without any help from him. :o)

Well, that's all for today. I have a new bear friend to start on and I have been working on the dollhouse for my niece. Maybe I will post some in progress pictures of that in a couple of days? As slow as I am I hope to have it done by the time she graduates college, LOL! She's 5 now ,yikes, I better get busy!!

A Wee Little Mouse

I hope you are all having a great evening!! I have just popped little Buxton on Bear Pile if you would like to stop on over there and take a look at him. :o)
I mentioned in a previous post that I was working on a rabbit. Well I liked him so much I decided to stash him away for an upcoming show. When it gets closer to the big day (and I have more bears finished) I will put together a sneak-peek.

I hope you have enjoyed seeing this little guy! I really enjoyed making him! Truth be told I have been a little down in the dumps lately so I haven't got much done in the way of bear making, but I'll keep plugging along as best I can. The bear-therapy helps :o)

A brand new panda

I have been working on this little panda for several days now. I just wasn't happy with her at first and almost gave up on her at one point, but I am now glad that I didn't! She has turned out to be quite a little cutie! Her name is Josie and she is available on Bear Pile if you would like to read a little more about her.

Well, I better get back to work :o) I have a new rabbit design I have been playing with today. I can't wait to see how he turns out over the next day or two!!

A Little Gardening and A Little Elephant

Even with all the beautiful weather we have had the past few days I did manage to get a little elephant finished. His name is Gideon and he will be available on Bear Pile. He is hoping you can visit him. :o)

Apart from making bears, building dollhouses and making miniatures, I also love gardening too when I have some spare time (ha ha!). I picked up some new plants at the garden center the other day ( I could go broke in there!!) and I managed to get them planted before the rain started this evening.
I just wanted to share some pictures of the spring flowers that are in bloom here in my little corner of the world. I hope you enjoy them!
Don't mind the weeds, that's what I grow best, LOL!

I will try and get some more pictures posted here as the flowers bloom this spring and summer. I always look forward to each and every one!

Inspired By The Past

As I mentioned the other day, I have been working on a little vintage style bear. I have her all finished this morning and I would love to share her with you!

Her name is Laura, in memory of my grandma. She reminds me of a bear that I would have found stashed in some dark corner of her attic, if she had ever let me go up there. I remember asking her again and again if I could see what was up there, but no such luck. "That dirty old attic is no place for a little girl" is what she always said with a smile. To this day I still wonder what she had up there so I sometimes daydream and imagine what I would have found. I think this little bear would have been right at home among some old dusty treasures, don't you?

Loving Blog Land

I am really having fun with this whole blogging thing, LOL! I wasn't sure that I would, but it is great! I have already met so many new people :o)

I would love to share a couple of new little creations with you today. The first is "Horatio", a little aged elephant. He is 4" seated. I dyed and aged his mohair and polka dot fabric to give him a well loved, prim look. I love the way he turned out!

Second is "Berry", a tiny little 3" bear. She is made from a short pink mohair. These two are so much cuter in the fur! I have been doing some camera shopping, I need a new one so bad!! My current one has definitely seen better days, LOL. I dropped it on the cement floor of my garage a while back , oops! Finding a new one is a lot more complicated than I thought it would be! There are so many choices out there. I wish I could test drive them first, lol :o)

Well, I better get back to sewing. I have so many ideas floating around in my head, I don't know if I will ever have time to bring them all out!

Spring Bunny

Wow, this week is really flying by!! I know you have all heard it a million times before, but I will say it again, There just aren't enough hours in the day!!

I would like to share my new little bunny with you though before I go and get started on dinner. I had such a good time creating my little mouse "Brie" that I just had to make her a little friend. I tweaked my pattern (again!) and "Pascal" is the result. He is 3" sitting, not including his ears. He is available on Bear Pile. I am sure he would love to have a visit from you if you get a chance. :o)

I have been a busy bee! I have finally finished a couple of little critters that have been patiently waiting on my desk for the past couple of weeks. :o) The first little guy here is named Jude. He is a mohair panda and is available on Bear Pile if you would like to visit him over there.

Spring has sprung....I think!

What a beautiful day we had here in Indiana!!! I spent the day weeding my flower beds and I got 3 of the 5 done before we had to run to the grocery store. I hope tomorrow is nice so I can get the rest finished, but you never know around here. It was in the 70's today and yesterday it was in the 30's, go figure!

Anyway, as promised I have a large bear finished. Well, large for me anyway, LOL! Her name is Iris and she measures about 13" seated and 19" overall. I will get her posted on Bear Pile here in a minute if you would like to read more about her. I apologize for the photos! I spent most of the day yesterday trying to get a some decent pictures of her, but it proved to be a real challenge!! I have come to the conclusion that I need to invest in some kind of photography set up for my larger bears. I already have one for my small bears, but I just can't seem to squeeze the big uns' in there. :o)

I have to admit that my mini elephants are my favorite to create! I had such a good time creating little Sammy that I just had to make her a friend. Of course he had to be a boy, LOL, it is spring! ;o) His name is Ian and he is looking for a new home on Bear Pile.

I have created him from a sparse blue mohair and flower print fabric for his ears and feet. Isn't he a cute?! UPDATE: Ian has been adopted! :o)

I also have a large bear to post soon, I hope. I need to get some pictures taken, but it has been pouring rain all day so unfortunately the lighting hasn't been very good :o( Maybe tomorrow.

A little spring elephant

I have named her after my daughter who is having her 9th birthday tomorrow!! Where does the time go???!!! Hello all! I have finally made the leap into blog land! How exciting! I have lots of big plans for this page so I am hoping you can stop in and visit often.
